ABERDEEN, MD — A vigil was held Friday night at Cranberry United Methodist Church for the victims of the Perryman shooting. The vigil brought community members together the day after four people were killed when a woman opened fire at the Rite Aid distribution center. Three others were shot and injured, officials said.
At the time of the shooting, Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said there were 65 employees inside the building off Perryman Road. The shooter was a temporary employee who had worked at the facility for less than two weeks, he said. A motive for her actions is unknown.
"No community is immune to this heinous violence," Gahler said Friday morning. "As we know, we are part of a very caring community that has been put to the test many times before, and again they have not let us down today."

Along those lines, he announced that the vigil was set for Friday evening at the Cranberry United Methodist Church, and he said a victims' assistance fund had been set up with the Victoria Russell Foundation, which also coordinated giving in the aftermath of the Edgewood shootings in October 2017.
The vigil was reportedly attended by Rite Aid distribution center workers, law enforcement, faith leaders and other community members.
