Perryman Shooting Is Less Than 1 Year After Edgewood Killings
When several people were reportedly shot in Perryman Thursday morning, it brought back disturbing memories.

PERRYMAN, MD — Multiple people were killed in a shooting at an industrial area of Perryman Thursday morning, according to Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler. The suspect is in custody, he reported at a midday press conference.
Deputies were dispatched at 9:06 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, to the Rite Aid distribution center for a report of shots fired, Gahler said. The building is in the area of Spesutia Road and Perryman Road. Within five minutes, authorities were at the scene, and they rendered first aid to the wounded.
"At this time, I can confirm multiple wounded and multiple fatalities," Gahler said after noon. "The lone suspect in this incident is in custody and is in critical condition at a local hospital."

The mass shooting took place less than a year after a man gunned down his co-workers in Edgewood, an event that happened around the same time of day.
At 8:58 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, a man opened fire on his co-workers at Advanced Granite Solutions in the 2100 block of Emmorton Park Road in Edgewood.

The violence is "becoming a too-often occurrence, not only in Harford County but in the country," Harford County Executive Barry Glassman said on Thursday afternoon.
Less than a year ago, Glassman stood on a grassy median off Route 24 miles to address the media about a triple fatal shooting in Edgewood.
"Unfortunately, like most suburban counties in America, we are not immune to workplace violence," Glassman said at a press conference outside the Emmorton Business Park last October.
That location in Edgewood is about 7 miles from the site of the shooting in Perryman.
In the Edgewood shootings, three people were pronounced deceased after Radee Labeeb Prince, 37, walked in to the cabinet and countertop business where he had been employed in an industrial park and opened fire.

The widow of one of the Edgewood victims said her husband told her Prince was "always angry" and had an explosive temper at work. A former employer said Prince "cursed and yelled about employment benefits," according to the Associated Press. The employer filed for a peace order, stating that Prince was threatening.
Prince was arrested after an hours-long manhunt that ended in Delaware hours after he shot an acquaintance there. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison in Delaware and is awaiting trial in Maryland.
It was "one of the most heinous acts we've ever seen in our county," Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said of the Edgewood mass shootings.
