Weather Announcement from Harford County Public Schools

Administrators issue decision about Monday for students, teachers.

Harford County Public Schools will open on time Monday, Feb. 1, 2016.

The school system provided this statement:

“While we do not typically make an announcement when schools are operating on a normal schedule, we are asking for everyone’s assistance following this historic snowfall in our efforts to open schools [Monday].

“We are encouraging parents and guardians to evaluate the safety of their students route to school and make any adjustments they feel necessary to ensure their safe arrival to and from schools and bus stops, since visibility at bus stops and intersections may still be limited.

“We also encourage the community to continue in their efforts to keep their personal sidewalks clear as the county is making efforts to clear county sidewalks. We are asking that everyone be extra vigilant at stop signs and maneuvering traffic corners when schools reopen...”

Due to the recent storm and the interruption of deliveries, school breakfast and lunch menus will be adjusted this week: Monday, Feb. 1, through Friday, Feb. 5, we will follow the menus originally planned for Jan. 25-29. We will return to normal published menus the week of Feb. 8.

The Board of Education Meeting scheduled for Monday, Jan. 25, has been canceled. The meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 1, at 6:30 p.m.
