Weather Update From Harford County Public Schools On Feb 7 2018

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Public schools in Harford County will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 7. School officials issued the announcement Wednesday morning in an update to a previous assessment.

While schools are closed for students, employees are on "code green," Harford County Public Schools officials said.

Harford County is under a winter weather advisory for snow, sleet and freezing rain on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

The wintry mix is expected to transition to freezing rain Wednesday morning and end as rain late Wednesday afternoon, weather officials say.

Forecasters are calling for anywhere from a coating to 1 inch of snow and sleet. The highest amounts of accumulation will be north and west of Interstate 95, weather officials say.

Roads may be icy, and drivers should anticipate slippery roads and limited visibility, the winter weather advisory states.

Other Delays

Town of Bel Air offices will open at normal business hours on Wednesday, Feb. 7, with liberal leave in effect for non-essential employees, due to possible icy road conditions.

HCC and Towson University in Northeastern Maryland will open at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Call 443-412-2322 for more details.

Harford County Government offices will open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, with liberal leave in effect for employees for the remainder of the day. Critical employees should report in accordance with polices set within their departments.

Harford County Public Library branches will open at noon.

Havre de Grace City Hall will open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, with liberal leave in effect for non-emergency employees.

Havre de Grace has modified its municipal trash and recycling pickup schedule for the week due to winter weather.
