Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Harford County

Parts of central and northern Maryland are under the winter weather advisory for Thursday, Nov. 15.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Slippery road conditions are anticipated Thursday and may impact the commute, according to the National Weather Service. Snow, sleet and freezing rain are in the forecast.

Harford County is under a winter weather advisory from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15.

The advisory calls for up to 2 inches of sleet and snow as well as a glaze of ice.

Harford County Public Schools announced Thursday morning that schools would be closed due to the forecast.

School systems in Baltimore, Carroll and Howard counties are also closed on Thursday, Nov. 15. Cecil County is on a two-hour delay.

"Be very careful if you venture outside," the National Weather Service advised. "Watch your first few steps in particular as your step or path may be coated with ice."

These areas are under the winter weather advisory from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15:

  • Baltimore City
  • Baltimore County
  • Carroll County
  • Frederick County
  • Harford County
  • Howard County

A winter weather advisory means snow, sleet or freezing rain may create hazardous travel conditions, such as limited visibility and slippery roads. People should use caution while driving and walking outside.

Cecil County is under a separate winter weather advisory for up to 1 inch of snow and a light glaze of ice from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15. The advisory states a wintry mix is expected to move over Delmarva around 7 a.m. and move northeast mid-morning.

Anne Arundel, Montgomery and Prince George's counties are under another winter weather advisory from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15. That advisory states up to 1 inch of snow and up to 0.1 inch ice may accumulate.
