Woman Denied Bail After Carjacking And Police Chase: Sheriff
Authorities allege the woman stole a truck, tried to steal another vehicle, hit a deputy and led police on a chase before she was arrested.

BEL AIR, MD — A Baltimore County woman is being held without bail after allegedly stealing a truck in Forest Hill, trying to take a second vehicle and injuring a deputy, officials said. The theft prompted a police chase from Forest Hill to the Winters Run Bridge, officials said.
Destinee Renee Wallace, 33, of the 800 block of Rosedale Avenue, faces a slew of charges, including carjacking and assault.
Wallace is accused of getting into a 2004 Isuzu truck Thursday evening that was parked with its keys in the ignition on Ridgeview Drive near Jarrettsville. A call reporting the stolen vehicle came into the northern precinct of the Harford County Sheriff's Office at 5:43 p.m. on Thursday, officials said.

She proceeded to run another vehicle off the road in the area of Pleasantville Road, where police allege she got out of the truck and tried unsuccessfully to coerce the other driver to get out so she could steal it.
A deputy and trooper turned on their lights and tried to stop Wallace, who would not pull over, authorities said. Instead, officials allege she turned from Route 23 onto Route 24 and intentionally hit a patrol vehicle, trapping the officer inside.

Police said they chased the stolen truck along the Bel Air Bypass until the pursuit ended at the Winters Run Bridge. There, Wallace got out and was arrested without incident, authorities reported.
Wallace has been charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle; carjacking; first-degree assault; two counts of second-degree assault; reckless endangerment; and assault on law enforcement, court records show.
Authorities said Friday that Wallace was being held without bail at the Harford County Detention Center.
The deputy was taken to Upper Chesapeake for treatment of minor injuries, according to officials.
