Firefighters Control Abingdon, Kingsville Woods Fires

Firefighters battled wildfires in two counties Monday evening.

ABINGDON, MD — Firefighters battled blazes on either side of the Harford-Baltimore county line Monday evening.

At least 1 acre of woods was on fire in Abingdon in the 700 block of Hookers Mill Road, according to Jen Chenworth, spokeswoman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association. Nobody was injured, she added.

Hookers Mill Road was closed between Laurel Bush Road and Tiffany Trail, Chenworth said after 5 p.m. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.
