• USDA accelerates plan to close its flagship scientific campus (science.org) — Beltsville’s USDA Agricultural Research Center is being rapidly dismantled, with bee labs and other key research units ordered to relocate out of Maryland by September. Scientists warn the closure of this long-standing Beltsville campus could weaken national responses to bee die‑offs, livestock genetics challenges, and plant disease threats that ultimately affect farmers and food supplies everywhere.
