• Bank Robber Used Stolen Kitten as Accessory (neatorama.com) — A Maryland man allegedly stole a kitten from a Pet Supplies Plus, then walked across the parking lot and tried to rob a bank while using the cat as a prop. Beltsville Community Cats’ leader helped recover the unharmed kitten, Magnolia, who has since found a permanent home after her unlikely brush with crime drew extra attention. 
• USDA Employees Unlikely to Relocate (cowsmo.com) — USDA employees are fighting large-scale relocations they say amount to mass layoffs, warning of brain drain, slower policy work, and weaker wildfire response. Locally, staff in the Agricultural Research Service caution that closing the renowned Beltsville Agricultural Research Center and scattering its projects could permanently damage key research programs, including pollinator work moving to North Dakota.
