3 Bethesda Area RadioShacks Marked to Close
The electronics chain filed for bankruptcy and some Montgomery County stores will close.

Three RadioShack stores in the Bethesda area are slated to close as the company goes through bankruptcy.
Texas-based RadioShack filed for bankruptcy Feb. 5, while it also announced a deal to sell between 1,500 and 2,400 stores to a mix of companies including Standard General and Sprint, reports Forbes.

On the company’s list of stores to shutter are the downtown Bethesda store at 8125 Wisconsin Ave., the Rockville-Twinbrook store at 1600 Rockville Pike, and the Friendship Heights store at 4531 Wisconsin Ave.
The Bethesda store is already advertising a store closing sale, reports BethesdaNow.

Other Montgomery County stores to close include:
- Silver Spring Hillandale at 10161 New Hampshire Ave.
- Gaithersburg Lake Forest Mall, 701 Russell Ave.
- Gaithersburg Square, 524 N. Frederick Ave.
There is no word on the timeframe for the impending closures.
Out of the company’s estimated 4,000 stores, the Wall Street Journal says 1,750 RadioShack stores may remain open as co-branded Sprint stores. But, the rest of the shops will close.
