34th Turkey Chase in Bethesda: What to Know Before You Go
The 34th Annual Turkey Chase will take place Thanksgiving Day in Bethesda to benefit nonprofits. Expect 10,000 runners on the streets.

BETHESDA, MD — Families pushing little ones in strollers will join dedicated runners to take part in the 34th annual Turkey Chase on Thanksgiving morning in Bethesda.
According to organizers, the Turkey Chase is the largest 10K in Montgomery County and the largest fundraiser for the YMCA and the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary Club Foundation, raising more than $4.7 million since the first event. All of the net proceeds benefit youth and families in Montgomery County through YMCA programs and local Rotary charities.
This event will draw over 10,000 individuals and families for a morning of healthy competition and activities for children that promote community and personal wellness.

Start times: All races start at the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase, 9401 Old Georgetown Road
- 8:30 AM for the 10K
- 9:00 AM for the 2 mile run/walk
- 9:40 AM for the Tot Trot 50 meter race
Each year the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase and the BCC Rotary Foundation, through the Turkey Chase, make it possible through financial assistance and local grants for thousands of children and families in the community, who live at or below the federal poverty level, to attend Y programs and receive services from local non-profits that keep them safe, engaged and valued.

In addition to street parking, there are three available lots:
- Bethesda Country Day School (located just across the street from YMCA Tennis Courts on Beech)
- Lycee Rochambeau (French International School) (9600 Forest Road, Bethesda MD)
- American Podiatry Medical Association Offices (9312 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD)
Where are the nearest Metro Stations?
Organizers encourage runners to walk, ride their bikes or use public transportation when possible. The closest Metro Stations near the YMCA are:
- Bethesda Metrorail (2.2 miles from YMCA, a 44 min walk)
- Grosvenor – Strathmore Metrorail (1.9 miles, a 37 min walk)
- Medical Center Metrorail (1.9 miles, a 38 min walk)
How do I get my race number and t shirt?
Runners can pick up their race materials at:
Packet Pick Up at Road Runner Sports located at 1807 Rockville Pike
- Wednesday, November 23rd from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Race Day Morning, November 24, at the YMCA beginning at 6:00 am (9401 Old Georgetown Rd, Bethesda)
Can I register on race day?
Yes. Race day registration begins at 6:00 am at the YMCA.
Is my registration fee refundable?
No. All registration fees are non-refundable. Turkey Chase is a charitable event.
