Community Update

Hello Bethesda-Chevy Chase;

I am trying as hard as I can, to find an apartment to rent or even sublet, in the Montgomery County area where I grew up a zillion years ago. I suffered a stroke a few years ago, and my life has been mostly concerned with attempting to find safe, affordable housing. I so far have failed miserably. Now my abusive sibling has decided to attempt to attack me again, although the D.C. Courts had ruled she was not allowed in the City, she appeared last week outside my apartment building, accompanied by a female D.C. Police Officer. I am very frightened by this event. I have paid hundreds of dollars in this past year, applying for apartments in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. I was told at one point, by the Kettler Corporation, that I had been accepted as a tenant, and to pay my first months rent and get my keys. I went to their Office, near the Twinbrook Metro, delivered the requested $1000.00 Money Order, and asked for my keys. The Kettler female employee, took my check, and walked me to the door of the apartment which was supposed to become mine. She fumbled and fumbled with her keys, then said she must have left them in her Office, and told me to "Wait, she would be 'right back.'" I waited, like an idiot. When 20 minutes had passed, I walked to her Office. The doors were closed and locked, at 3 in the afternoon. Since that time, I have returned on numerous occassions, attempting to get my keys, and have exchanged innumerable emails with Kettler. Nearly 7 months have passed, and NEVER have I obtained keys. I have copies of all the pertinent paperwork, and am still packed about 75%. The place I am renting right now is dangerous, as most of my neighbors smoke all sorts of things, regardless of the "rule" by "Jubilee L.L.C." (blg. owners) that is it a non-smoking building. I have been beaten up by their employees, each of my three different indoor cats, (for which I have a permit, as a disabled person), have been murdered with rat poison, by a Jubilee employee named "James". (He admitted this with pride, right to my face; "I just fed rat poison to your cat, and she is DEAD!) I had been in the laundry room, and found James exiting my apartment. This is when he made that announcement. My name is Vikki R. I used to love to sit in the Bethesda Diner with friends, after school sometimes. Bethesda is such a neat place, and the Montgomery County Public School System is an excellent one. ( I went to Churchill, thanks to my parents). Does anyone know of a sublet in Montgomery County, no more than 7 or 8 blocks from a Metro Station? I am good at walking, and don't mind it.
