Amtrak Train Collides With Tractor-Trailer In Gaithersburg

An Amtrak commuter train has collided with a tractor-trailer in Gaithersburg Monday evening.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — An Amtrak commuter train has collided with a tractor trailer in Gaithersburg Monday evening. According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Pete Piringer, no passengers were injured.

The fire department said the vehicle was stuck on the tracks before it was hit by the train.

All MARC, Amtrak, and CSX train traffic has been shut down, according to the fire department. Chestnut Street is closed from East Diamond Avenue to Meem Avenue. As a result, expect significant delays.
