Ashburton Elementary Families Join Walk to School Movement

Many families at Bethesda's Ashburton Elementary School parked their cars and walked with their children to school Wednesday.

Thousands of school children throughout the region joined hands with their parents and made the walk--or biked--to school Wednesday. It was all part of the national annual “Walk to School Day” to encourage families to be more physically active while helping the environment at the same time.

Ashburton Elementary School in Bethesda took part in the event.

National Walk to School Day started in 1997 with the goal of encouraging parents to walk, rather than drive, their kids to school.
