Authentic Indian Restaurant With Upscale Twist Now At Pike & Rose

BETHESDA, MD — Commonwealth Indian, an authentic Indian restaurant with an upscale twist, has opened in North Bethesda. Located at 11610 Old Georgetown Rd., the restaurant is one of the latest additions to the Pike & Rose development.

The restaurant is helmed by Executive Chef Sunil Bastola, a Nepali-born culinary professional with more than 18 years of experience. He holds an advanced culinary degree from Stratford University, but credits his lifelong passion for cooking by his mother and grandmother.

Bastola hopes Commonwealth Indian serves not only as a dining destination in North Bethesda but also as a culinary gateway to Nepal and the surrounding region.

"We're very excited to bring our second Indian restaurant concept to the DC-metro area and add a new cuisine to the Pike & Rose neighborhood. Whether our guests are gathering with family over dinner or stopping in for a quick work-day lunch, Commonwealth will bring the best of traditional Indian dishes served in a contemporary way that North Bethesda has not yet seen," Bastola said.

Commonwealth Indian serves regional delicacies such as Rajwadi Murgh (curry chicken); Angrezi (butter chicken); Nariyal Konju (fisherman's delight); and Mutton Ki Biryani (lamb). Other menu items include Badam Halwa (almond pudding); Nutella Naan; and Sitaphal ke Kulfi (custard apple ice cream served over chilled rose vermicelli).

Mondays through Thursdays: 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Fridays and Saturdays: 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.; 5:00 - 10:30 p.m.

Sundays: 11:00 a.m. - 3 p.m.; 5:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
