Beat The Heat In Montgomery County

BETHESDA, MD — As the D.C. metro area braces for this weekend's heat wave, Montgomery County officials are urging residents to limit outdoor activity and seek relief at a nearby cooling center if there is no A/C at home.

Sure, the extreme summer heat limits what you can do outside. But that doesn't mean you have to abandon all your weekend plans.

If you're looking to beat the heat and still have some fun in Montgomery County, you're in luck. Patch has rounded up a list of awesome things to do and see this weekend.

Go Ice Skating
Ice skating isn't just for the winter.

At a time like this, the best place to go is an ice rink. Seriously, what's better than hanging out in an ice box in 100-plus degree weather?

Montgomery County is home to two year-round indoor skating facilities: Wheaton Ice Arena and Cabin John Ice Rink. Public skating sessions are open every day.

Make a Splash
Thank goodness for water parks, am I right? SplashPark is one of the most popular spots at South Germantown Recreational Park. Kids can cool down playing in a 280-jet water maze, a cave with a waterfall, and under water bucket drops.

Adjacent to SplashPark is an 18-hole miniature golf course.
