Bethesda Country Day School Donates Toys & Food to Those in Need
Students held a toy drive in support of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots program and a food drive for the Manna Food Center
Students at Bethesda Country Day School recently collected four large boxes of toys for Toys for Tots, a gift drive run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Over the past month, students worked together to collect the items, which benefited local children in need during the holidays. Toys for Tots, a 70-year national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, provides happiness and hope to less fortunate children during each holiday season. The toys, books and other gifts collected and distributed by Marines and volunteers offer these children recognition, confidence and a positive memory for a lifetime.
In addition to their Toys for Tots collection, students also donated more than 425 pounds of food to Manna Food Center, which works to fight hunger, feed hope and transition Montgomery County residents from a place of scarcity to prosperity by providing safe, sufficient and nutritious food. Through these initiatives, students learned the importance of helping others, especially during the holiday season.
