Bethesda DAR Chapter-Keepers of the Madonna of the Trail

The Colonel Tench Tilghman Chapter and the MSSDAR celebrated at the Bethesda Madonna of the Trail

Founder’s Day for the Maryland State Society Daughters of the American Revolution was held on October 12th, commemorating the founding of the DAR. A ceremony was held at the Madonna of the Trail statue in Bethesda, MD. The Colonel Tench Tilghman Chapter members are the caretakers of the Madonna for the Maryland State Daughters. A proclamation from Governor O’Malley was read and then Judge Harry Truman, portrayed by Bob Graziosi, the father of a member of the Chapter, read the speech presented at the 1929 dedication of the statue in Bethesda. Maryland Daughters from all over Maryland attended that celebration which culminated in a luncheon at a local Bethesda restaurant, CESCO osteria.

The Colonel Tench Tilghman Chapter meets in the evening on the second Tuesday of the month. For more information on becoming of member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, visit our website at http://www.coltenchtilghman.com.
