Bethesda Man Dies in Interstate Crash: Police

Police say a Bethesda man who died on I-270 may have had a medical problem before the one-car crash.

BETHESDA, MD — A Bethesda man died Tuesday night in a one-car interstate crash after his vehicle went airborne, Maryland State police said.

The crash happened just before 8 p.m. on northbound I-270 ramp to I-370. Police said the victim is Michael Garth Thomas, 38, of Bethesda, WUSA reports.

Investigators say Thomas was on northbound I-270 at the ramp to I-370 when his 2012 Acura veered out of control, hit the guardrail and landed on the other side of the guardrail.

Thomas was pronounced dead at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center, The Washington Post reports.

He may have suffered a medical emergency before the crash, authorities said.
