Friday, October 16

- Sandy Spring Museum’s art exhibit “Two for One: Photographic Combinations using the Museum Collection” is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- The Sugarloaf Craft Festival takes place at the county fairgrounds in Gaithersburg this weekend. Friday and Saturday hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday the festival is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Manna Food Center will be collecting canned food to help feed the hungry in Montgomery County.
- The popular Field of Screams features four haunts in Olney. The gates open at 6:30 p.m.
- Markoff’s Haunted Forest opens the gates at 7 p.m. Online ticket purchase is recommended. The forest features two trails and numerous events from zip-lines to zombie hunts.
- The tenth-annual Spooky Movie Horror Film Festival at AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring wraps up this weekend. Tonight’s films inlcude They Look Like People and German Angst
- The Germantown Harmony Express Chorus performs at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre in Rockville at 7:30 p.m.
- The Kensington Arts Theatre-2nd Stage’s production of Disney’s Aladdin Jr. at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn at 7:30 p.m. is appropriate for families with children ages 7 and older.
- Bobby Caldwell performs at Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club at 8 p.m.
- PigPen Theater Co. performs at AMP by Strathmore at 8 p.m. They combine modern storytelling with great music for a unique experience.

- Gaithersburg shredding and recycling event for residents takes place at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- The Sugarloaf Crafts Festival includes the work of more than 250 artisans, demonstrations, live music and a children’s entertainment area. The festival is located at the county fairgrounds in Gaithersburg. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Enjoy a hay ride, straw maze, corn hole game and much more at the Butler’s Orchard Pumpkin Festival in Germantown. Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Take a visit to the Rockville Library to cheer on your favorite seasoned speller’s team at the Seasoned Spellers Spelling Bee from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- The Rockville Antique and Classic Car Show takes place from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the Glenview Mansion grounds.
- Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club presents a dance master class at 11 a.m. for a chance to learn legendary Michael Jackson moves.
- The Kensington Arts Theatre-2nd Stage’s production of Disney’s Aladdin Jr. at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn at 2 p.m. is appropriate for families with children ages 7 and older.
- The Bethesda Row Arts Festival takes place this weekend in downtown Bethesda. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- The Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department is hosting an open house from noon to 3 p.m.
- The Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard is the site for “Howl-O-Wine” from noon to 5 p.m. Bring your best furry friend for this Halloween event to benefit Wags for Hope.
- Younger children may enjoy the ‘Eye Spy’ Halloween train ride at Cabin John Regional Park. Older children may want to check out the Wheaton Haunted Train at Wheaton Regional Park.
