Bethesda Things To Do: Doggie Swims, Pawpaw Festival, Culture Club at Strathmore

Friday, September 9:
- Gaithersburg’s Backyard Concert features Brazilian jazz music byEncantada at 6 p.m. at Diamond Farms Park. Free.
- Friday Night Live Concert Series at Rockville Town Square features Ruthie & The Wranglers playing country at 6 p.m. Free.
- AFI Silver Screens free outdoor film series wraps up with Paris Blues in downtown Silver Spring’s Veterans Plaza.
- Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club present Rahsaan Patterson at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m.
- Landless Theatre Company in partnership with Arts on the Green present the The Mystery of Edwin Drood at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn at 8 p.m.

- We know of two opportunities for your dog to take a swim today, including the Pooch Pool Party at the Wheaton-Glenmont outdoor pool from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. AND the Doggie Dip Day at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center from Noon to 4 p.m.
- Music on the Farm continues with the Blue Rhythm Boys at the Agricultural History Farm Park from 5 to 8 p.m. Free.
- Meadowside Nature Center is celebrating the pawpaw fruit, which is native to Maryland. The Pawpaw Festival is open from noon to 4 p.m. and includes music, storytelling, crafts, games, expert advice on pawpaw cultivation, and a pawpaw tasting station. Tickets are $5.
- Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club present two comedy shows with Joe Clair & Friends at 7 and 10 p.m.
Sunday, September 11:
- Enjoy an afternoon in Rockville’s Glenview Mansion from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. A new art exhibit starts today with an opening reception. Jazz music by the Bruce Swaim Quartet begins at 2 p.m.
- The opening reception for the “Rise Up: Artwork from the National Association of Women Artists” exhibit takes place at 2 p.m. in the Mansion at Strathmore. Free.
- Landless Theatre Company in partnership with Arts on the Green presents The Mystery of Edwin Drood at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn at 2 p.m.
- The British band Culture Club perform at the Music Center at Strathmore at 8 p.m.
