Bethesda YMCA getting a much needed renovation
Bethesda YMCA will be renovating the building all summer and hopes to reopen in Late november
An incredibly brand new YMCA will be updated and beautifully built in the last week of November 2018. Many have awaited the changes and the new building is hopefully coming pretty quickly.
Many people have been complaining about the cramped conditions of the locker rooms and gym for awhile now, not to mention the single sex suana which operates on a switch off schedule, men go for a block of time one day, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00p.m. and then the next set of hours belong to the women. Not idealistic but it was the only choice under the circumstances.
Frederick, Maryland has had an amazing renovation just a few years ago and they put locks on the locker rooms which may be operated by knowing the passcode and pressing the buttons into the doorway. They also have a free towel service, extra large gyms with modern use equipment and lounging area. It is close to downtown Frederick which makes it easily accessable to all members.

Frederick is a smaller town and has less members than Washington D.C. But, it is a great example of how well a renovation should work in a small community. They have plenty of room in their YMCA to host many activities.
The new building should have a large gym with lots of windows to reflect on the new neighborhood. There will be spacious classrooms for exercise classes and spin class. There will be two suanas for each of the locker rooms. The Wellness center can go back to being just a wellness center. The members have been using the Wellness center for their gym needs and bike and treadmills and weights experience for the summer. We look forward to a brand new gym with much needed space and brand new equipment.
