Blake falls to Linganore; historic season comes to a close
The Bengals fall to the Lancers and their Cinderella season comes to an end
The Blake Bengals (7-5) enter this years playoffs with one of the best teams in program history. They had won a program record seven games to this point, and hoped to extend their record against the Linganore Lancers (9-2).
Linganore drew first blood when quarterback Ryan Leyh found receiver Davon Butler for a 19 yard catch and run for the score. The teams stayed even for much of the game as the Lancers could not put away the Bengals. The game broke open in the third quarter, though. Leyh found Joey Felton on a deep bomb for a 73 yard touchdown which would seal a 27-12 victory.
The Lancers advance to the regional final next week, and will travel to Westminster to take on a 10-1 Owls. Blake closes the chapter on what was an impressive season, and hope to build on it for next year to finally break their longstanding win record.
