Partners in Preservation: Historical Characters, Free Preservation Pops at Farragut Friday

Come down to Farragut Friday to get Free Preservation Pops from 11-2p, courtesy of Partners in Preservation

Come down to Farragut Friday tomorrow to get a Free Preservation Pop, courtesy of Partners in Preservation. We will be down in Farragut Square from 11-2 to spotlight historic preservation and encourage voting to give away $1 million in preservation grants. We’ve partnered with Pleasant Pops to hand out free Preservation Pops to anyone who posts about the program on Facebook or tweets using #preserveDMV. We’ll also have historic characters in period costumes from the sites taking pictures – come out and meet “George Mason”  – and Paul Wells, the nephew of Dr. Carter G Woodson. Hope you’re able to come out – look for the giant “Partners in Preservation” sign.

American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation are giving away $1 million to 24 historic sites in the greater DC area through Partners in Preservation, a program which spotlights local historic gems and encourages Washingtonians to get involved. Washingtonians are encouraged to vote online daily or via social media (using #PreserveDMV) to support their favorite site and favorite cause, whether it’s animals, gardens, religion, veterans, Civil War or African American heritage. The program runs through May 10, with the winner being announced on May 13.
