Eight regional artists have been selected as finalists for The Trawick Prize: Bethesda Contemporary Art Awards, a juried competition and exhibition produced by the Bethesda Arts &amp; Entertainment District. More than 370 artists from Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. submitted work to the 24th annual competition. The exhibit will be on display September 3–27, 2026 at Gallery B, located at 7700 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite E. Gallery hours are Thursday through Saturday, 12 to 5pm, and Sunday, 11am – 4pm. One of Kensington's favorite traditions returns on Monday, September 7, with the 59th Annual Labor Day Parade and Festival.
The parade begins at 10:00 am and features marching bands, dance groups, equestrian groups, community organizations, fire trucks, colorful floats, and much more as it travels through the heart of Kensington.
After the parade, enjoy the festival along Armory Avenue with live music, food vendors, local organizations, family activities, a bounce house, and a beer and wine garden. Bring a lawn chair or find a spot along the parade route and enjoy a fun day celebrating community.
The festival runs from 10:00 am–2:00 pm, rain or shine.

Yellow Barn Studio and Gallery

This Fall season, learn how to draw and illustrate using basic mediums such as graphite pencils and charcoal sticks and ink pens. The Drawing course is taught by renowned artist, Vian Borchert, at The Yellow Barn Studio at Glen Echo Park.
The course will be onsite and in-person in the Studio starting from September 25 till November 6. The class is on Friday mornings from 9:30AM till 12PM at the Yellow Barn Studio located in Glen Echo, Maryland.
