Come join us at Amy Kaslow Gallery for the opening reception of Jane Kell: Coastal
Jane Kell returns this fall with a new body of immersive work, a collection of eleven oil paintings and fifteen works on paper. We’re excited to welcome this leading British artist back to the gallery for her fifth exhibition with us. Amy Kaslow Gallery and Jane Kell have been together since we opened in 2020.
Kell was our first artist-in-residence, always accompanied by her loyal rescue dog, Penny. The two moved back to London where the painter built a bright and expansive studio. An avid traveler to the countryside and the water’s edge, she is drawn to these natural vistas, raw and untouched.
In this series of paintings powerful tones and graceful forms bleed and fuse elegantly. Brilliant, bold, and saturated, the cavernous Arcadian Landscape and Canyon command any room. Both much larger than Kell's earlier abstracts, Kell created these expansive vistas on unstretched canvases pinned to the studio wall. This is a method Kell first used in 2020 for her debut show with the gallery and she has since found it a way to be free and experimental.
