Cat Rescued from Tree in 'Old-School' Call for Help
A fire crew from Station 12 in Silver Spring helped a pet owner rescue a cat trapped in a tree for most of a day.
While rescues are pretty much an everyday occurrence to Montgomery County firefighters, seldom do they play hero to a cat stuck in a tree.
Last week, a frightened feline missing from home for a day was found by its owner high up in a tree.
The resident called Fire Station 12 in Silver Spring on Wednesday with what was described as an “old school” request: could firefighters rescue the wayward kitty from its perch?

A fire truck and crew responded to the distress call to find a distraught resident whose cat was unhappily settled in the trunk of a tree about 30 feet off the ground. Working together, the firefighters and pet owner persuaded the cat to climb down to a spot rescuers could reach with a ladder.
“Upon returning to the ground, the cat was reunited with its grateful owner,” the department said on its blog.
