Cheers! MoCo Beer Week Runs Through April 30

MoCo Beer Week -- which is actually ten days of events -- promotes local brewers, pubs, restaurants and retailers through Saturday night.

Craft beer aficionados – and Joe Sixpacks who want to try local brews – have kicked off the first MoCo Beer Week.

The 10-day event aims to celebrate local breweries, restaurants, pubs and retailers, say organizers on the event’s Facebook page. Various businesses will offer specials during the week, which began April 20 and wraps up on Saturday, April 30.

Special nights planned by participating businesses include:

  • Rare beer tapping, Friday, April 29, at Old Town Pour House in Gaithersburg
  • RAR Tap Takeover, 5 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Downtown Crown Wine and Beer, 303 Copley Pl, Gaithersburg
  • Weyerbacher Tap Takeover and Charity Event, 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Downtown Crown Wine and Beer, all of the draft sales from Last Chance IPA will be donated to Montgomery County Humane Society and a special auction will take place to support MCHS.
  • Concert by Stephen Babcock & Darryl Rahn, 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 29 at 7 Locks Brewing, 12227 Wilkins Ave. in Rockville
  • Heavy Seas Tap Takeover, 4 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Mussel Bar Bethesda, 7262 Woodmont Ave. in Bethesda

Beer Week participants include: Downtown Crown Wine and Beer and Gilly’s Craft Beer and Fine Wine in Rockville; restaurants such as Mussel Bar & Grille in Bethesda, Dogfish Head Alehouse in Gaithersburg and Cuginis Restaurant & Bar in Poolesville, Silver Spring’s Denizens Brewing Co., Rockville’s 7 Locks Brewing and Laytonsville’s Waredaca Brewing Co. are some of the county breweries organizing and participating in events, Bethesda Magazine reports.
