Commuter Alert: Lanes to Close on MD 187 Overnight
Two lanes in each direction of the road will be closed in Bethesda starting Sunday as intersection improvements are made.

State Highway Administration crews will close lanes in both directions on MD 187 in Bethesda starting Sunday night as work continues on the $3.35 million intersection improvement project on Old Georgetown Road from south of Center Drive to north of West Cedar Lane/Oakmont Avenue.
Beginning Sunday night and continuing each night through Thursday, crews will temporarily close two lanes in both directions of MD 187 within the project limits from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The lane closures are necessary to install underground conduit for new traffic signals.
Weather permitting, this phase of work should be complete by the end of the month, officials said in a news release.

Heavy construction equipment will be used to excavate sections of the driving surface on MD 187 where the underground conduit will be installed.
In addition, crews may also close a single lane on northbound MD 187 weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and southbound from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. During this phase of construction, the daytime lane closures allow crews to expedite steel plate removal and to fill roadway trenches with concrete.
