UPDATE: Man Killed by Train in Gaithersburg; Service Resumes
Authorities say service was suspended with trains stopped at Rockville, Silver Spring and Gaithersburg. Service was to begin at 6:45 p.m.

UPDATED at 6:45 p.m.
A man was hit and killed Monday afternoon by a train near North Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg, and trains are delayed in the area.
Transit officials said at 6:25 p.m. that trains were set to resume service within 10 minutes.

The Montgomery County Police Department is investigating the death at the scene.
Maryland Transit Administration officials described the pedestrian victim as a trespasser in a news release.

Brunswick Line service remained suspended at 5 p.m., according to the Maryland Transit Administration’s website. Train 873 is stopped west of Gaithersburg Station; train 891 is stopped at Rockville; and train 875 is stopped at Silver Spring. When service resumes, all trains will make all stops to their final destinations.
Trains will depart Union Station in sequential order, the MTA says. Further delays will occur trains will operate at reduced speed as they follow other trains.
The PanTran connecting buses for Train 873 will not operate Monday night. Passengers on Train 873 for West Virginia stations will transfer to Train 875 at Brunswick.
Passengers were earlier encouraged to use Metrorail to ride to Shady Grove and use the 505 and 515 bus service. Train 875 will depart Union Station but will hold at Silver Spring until further notice. The Washington Metro option is now open, please show your tickets to the Metro station manager.
