Damascus attempt to continue perfect season into playoffs

The undefeated Hornets open up the playoffs against Liberty on Friday night

The Damascus Hornets (10-0) will face off against the Liberty Lions (8-2) Friday night in the first round of the Maryland 2a playoffs. The Hornets enter the playoff's as the brackets top seed, and will play host to the Lions this weekend.

The Eric Wallich coached team has been incredible offensively this season. Damascus has eclipsed 40 points in all ten of their games this season, including a 49-7 thumping of Wooton last week. They have posted an amazing +375 point differential to this point. Senior John Allan Fergueson is projected to start under center for the Hornets. Running back TD Ayo-Durojaiye is coming off of a 123 yard, four touchdown performance and hopes to put up a repeat effort against Liberty's defense.

Liberty is on a roll of their own heading into the playoffs. The Lions have won their final three games of the regular season, including a 48-13 victory at Century last week. Theie 8-2 record is nothing to scoff at, and they only lost one game within their district this year. They will enter the game as heavy underdogs, but do have enough talent on their roster to spring an upset that will send shocks around Maryland football.
