Donald Trump's Fans Pop Off Over Bottle Cap Quote Removal

BETHESDA, MD — Controversial Republican presidential contender Donald Trump has muscled his way into refrigerators and vending machines.

How? The Bethesda-based Honest Tea company has a quote from Trump on the inside of some bottle caps, and word that it will be phased out has his supporters in a meltdown.

The company says on its blog that there “is nothing objectionable to the thinking in Mr. Trump’s quote, ‘If you’re going to think anyway, you might as well think big.’ Indeed, it’s certainly the mindset that we’ve brought to our business and our impact.”

Honest Tea says it is a tea for all parties “because we know that when people choose organic and Fair Trade tea they are making an impact, regardless of their party affiliation.”

For years, the company has put inspirational quotes on the bottom of its bottle caps, reports NBCWashington. But when a customer recently tweeted an image of the quote attributed to Trump, the internet piled on.

Honest Tea’s Twitter account replied, “We’re in the process of having his quotes removed from our caps.” The company later added that it cycles through new batches of quotes every year to 18 months, so it was time for the Trump quote to retire.

But the controversial magnate’s supporters are now jumping on the company website to vow they will boycott Honest Tea.

This tweet from reeser999 summed up the outrage: “ im in the process of ensuring i never buy your tea, the donald thanks you for the free pr though.”
