Friday, January 8

• Donate blood this month and receive a voucher for a pound of Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee in return. The Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission blood drive takes place in Derwood from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Red Cross encourages donors to make an appointment online.
• Ankh Repertory Theatre’s production of A Change Gon’ Come tells the story of Harriet Tubman and opens tonight at Gaithersburg Arts Barn, Performance is at 8 p.m.
• Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club present blues singer Joe Louis Walker at 8 p.m.
• Need some laughs? Check out Improv Comedy Night at the Highwood Theatre in Silver Spring at 8 p.m.
• Olney Theatre’s production of Guys and Dolls closes this weekend. Tonight’s show is at 8 p.m.
• The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra performs their Off the Cuff series with Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 3 under the direction of Marin Alsop at the Music Center at Strathmore at 8:15 p.m.

Saturday, January 9

• Donate blood this month and receive a voucher for a pound of Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee in return. The American Legion Post 171 is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Damascus. The Red Cross encourages donors to make an appointment online.
• Glen Echo’s Holiday Art Show & Sale closes this weekend; today’s hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Enjoy a 15% discount today and tomorrow.
• Imagination Stage presents A Year with Frog and Toad with shows at 1:30, 4 and 7 p.m. in Bethesda
• Olney Theatre’s production of Guys and Dolls closes this weekend. Show times today are 2 and 8 p.m.
• Two new exhibits open today at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown with works by artist Mariah Anne Johnson (Kay Gallery)and Braid Blair (Terrace Gallery). Meet both artists at opening receptions from 3 to 5 p.m.
• Ankh Repertory Theatre’s production of A Change Gon’ Come tells the story of Harriet Tubman and opens tonight at Gaithersburg Arts Barn with a performance at 8 p.m.
• Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club presents 76 Degrees West at 8 p.m.
• Pianist Brian Ganz performs Chopin works that highlight the lyrical ben canto style at the Music Center at Strathmore at 8 p.m.
• Wild Child plays a tribute concert to the Doors at the Fillmore Silver Spring at 9 p.m.

Sunday, January 10

• Today is the last day of Glen Echo’s Holiday Art Show & Sale with hours from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Enjoy a 15% discount today.
• Are you or a family member a budding philatelist? Today’s Discovery Day at the Gaithersburg Community Museum focuses on stamp collecting. The museum is open from 1 to 4 p.m.
• Today is the last day for Imagination Stage’s production of A Year with Frog and Toad with shows at 1:30 and 4 p.m. in Bethesda.
• This month’s art exhibit at the Glenview Mansion in Rockville includes works by members of the Baltimore Watercolor Society. The opening reception is from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. with music in the conservatory from 2 to 3 p.m.
