Each of Three Ingleside Communities Honored with Top Industry Accreditation

Family of Continuing Care Retirement Communities in Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Region Earns Prestigious CARF-CCAC Accreditation

Washington, D.C. – Ingleside, a premier network of not-for-profit, continuing care retirement communities (CCRC) in the Washington, D.C.-metro area, has announced that all three of its communities have earned the prestigious five-year CARF-CCAC (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities - Continuing Care Accreditation Commission) Accreditation.

The CARF-CCAC accreditations represent the highest level of recognition that can be awarded to an organization in the senior living industry and shows that all of Ingleside’s communities have a deep commitment to providing the highest quality of care to residents. Ingleside is a leader in providing seniors with opportunities to lead engaged, vibrant and healthy lives.

“Having all three of Ingleside’s communities receive the CARF-CCAC accreditation demonstrates the organization’s unwavering commitment to excellence,” said Ingleside President and CEO Lynn O’Connor. “Due to the dedication and expertise of our board members, staff, and Ingleside residents we have been able to achieve this momentous milestone.”

In order to receive the CARF-CCAC accreditation, communities must go through a rigorous peer-review process and demonstrate their commitment to being leaders in their field to a team of surveyors during a three-day, on-site visit. Communities seeking the accreditation must meet more than 1,000 standards of excellence. Of approximately 1,900 continuing care retirement communities in the U.S., about 300 – or 16 percent – fully meet the CARF-CCAC standards.

Ingleside’s CARF-CCAC accreditations come during a time of growth for the organization, as it plans for upcoming, state-of-the-art expansions at two of its communities, Ingleside at Rock Creek in Northwest Washington, D.C. and Ingleside at King Farm in Rockville, Md.

The Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC) was founded in 1985 as the nation’s only accrediting body for continuing care retirement communities and similar organizations. In 2003, CCAC merged with the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), a nonprofit accreditor founded in 1966 that serves a wide range of human service organizations.
