Free Doughnuts on National Donut Day 2016
Dunkin' Donuts, Krispy Kreme and Duck's Donuts in Montgomery County are all handing out freebies on June 3 for National Donut Day.

National Donut Day is Friday, June 3, and in honor of the big day, doughnut shops across the nation—including many in Maryland —will hand out free doughnuts to customers.
With many locations in the area, Dunkin' Donuts is on board with the holiday, as is area newcomer Duck's Donuts.
They say that they'll hand out one free doughnut of your choice "while supplies last" with the purchase of a beverage. (Could Dunkin' Donuts ever really run out of doughnuts?) Find your nearest store using their restaurant locator.

The holiday itself, always celebrated on the first Friday of June, was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.
The Salvation Army this year is teaming up with baking company Entenmann's to help celebrate National Donut Day; Entenmann's will donate proceeds from sales and offer customers a chance to win free doughnuts for a year, by entering a contest on its Facebook page. Entenmann's doughnuts can be found at area grocery stores.
