Fire in Laundry Room Damages Silver Spring Home: Report
Family is displaced by the Sunday night blaze, say Montgomery County firefighters.

A laundry room fire on Sunday night heavily damaged a Silver Spring house and displaced the family living there, according to Montgomery County fire officials.
The blaze at 9507 Biltmore Drive began in an overheated dryer and caused $135,000 in damage to the house, mymcmedia.org reported. The two-story, single-family house is just west of University Boulevard (Route 193), about two blocks south of the Beltway (Interstate 495).

One person was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said a spokesman with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.
The fire broke out in the laundry room in the house’s basement, and smoke alarms alerted the family to the blaze, the fire department said.
