Friday, October 9

- Sandy Spring Museum’s art exhibit “Two for One: Photographic Combinations using the Museum Collection” is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Enjoy an evening in Downtown Bethesda visiting art galleries and studios during the Bethesda Art Walk from 6 to 9 p.m. The free Bethesda Circulator runs continuously during the event.
- The F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Festival hosts “Readings in Tribute to Richard Ford” at The Writer’s Center in Bethesda from 7 to 9 p.m. This is the first event of the annual literary festival to honor the works of the F. Scott Fitzgerald.
- Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club present the Larry Brown Quintet with Sharon Clark at 8 p.m.
- It’s an evening of Jazz at AMP by Strathmore as the Naughty Professor band performs at 8 p.m.

- Participate in the 4th Annual “Strut Your Mutt” fundraising dog walk or 5K run to raise funds for homeless animals at the Black Hill Regional Park in Boyds. Registration at 9 a.m.
- The 19th Annual F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Festival is this weekend in Rockville.
- The Chevy Chase Fire Department is holding an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- The Faith Community Advisory Council is hosting an environmental symposium at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Derwood from 10 a.m. to noon.
- Gold’s Gym hosts a outdoor Zumba on the Square workout in Rockville at 10:30 a.m.
- Younger children will enjoy the ‘Eye Spy’ Halloween train ride through Cabin John Regional Park.
- Imagination Stage presents When She had Wings at 1:30 and 4 p.m.
- Build your own gingerbread haunted house for Halloween at the Thomas Farm Community Center in Rockville. Registration is required.
- Gaithersburg Skate Park is hosting the Fall Skate Slam from 2 to 6:30 p.m. (This event was rescheduled from October 3.)
- The 5th Annual Health Fair is being held at the Executive Office Building in Rockville from 2 to 6 p.m. Free flu vaccines and blood test for the first 250 people present.
- Birds of Chicago conduct a singer songwriter workshop at Gaithersburg Arts Barn at 3 p.m.
- Singer Jackie Evancho appears at the Music Center at Strathmore at 8 p.m. Evancho competed in “America’s Got Talent” as a ten-year old in 2011.
- Maryland Public Television premieres “Our Town – Rockville” at 8 p.m.
- AMP by Strathmore presents an evening of magic and comedy with the NY Variety All-Stars at 8 p.m.
- Cajun band BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet perform at BlackRock in Germantown at 8 p.m.
Sunday, October 11
- Cabin John Volunteer Fire Department is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The Gaithersburg Washington Grove Volunteer Fire Department’s open house is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Gaithersburg’s 24th annual Oktoberfest at the Kentlands from noon to 5 p.m.
- The Kensington Volunteer Fire Department’s open house is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Imagination Stage presents When She had Wings at 1:30 and 4 p.m.
- The Ying Quartet with Zuill Bailey on cello performs at the Jewish Community Center in Rockville at 7:30 p.m.
- Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club presents The Tom Principato Band at 7:30 p.m.
