Flatbed Truck Strikes, Kills Bicyclist In Bethesda: Police
A woman was struck and killed by a flatbed truck while riding a bike on River Road in Bethesda around 4 p.m. on Thursday, police said.
BETHESDA, MD — A woman was struck and killed by a flatbed truck while riding a bike on River Road in Bethesda around 4 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
The woman was struck just north of the Little Falls Parkway and the Capital Crescent Trail. Traffic on River Road between Ridgefield Road and Little Falls Parkway was restricted during the investigation. One lane was open in each direction.
At 4:05 p.m. Thursday, police officers responded to the crash at the 5200 block of River Road. Members of the Montgomery County Fire Rescue also responded, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene of the crash, police said.
The name of the victim will be released when her next of kin has been notified, police said.
