Fortune 500: These Maryland Companies Make 2020 List

The annual Fortune 500 list ranks the top companies in the United States. See which Maryland companies made the cut in 2020.

MARYLAND — Fortune magazine has released its annual list of the 500 top companies in America, which represent two-thirds of the country's gross domestic product, the magazine says. Of those 500 companies, three are based in Maryland.

Fortune ranks companies by total annual revenue and, for the eighth consecutive year, Walmart topped the 2020 list, followed by Amazon and Exxon Mobil. Apple and CVS Health ranked No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, rounding out the top five spots on the list.

The 500 companies employ 29.2 million people worldwide.

Here are the companies in Maryland that made the Fortune 500 list:

  • No. 57: Lockheed Martin of Bethesda: $59.8 billion
  • No. 157: Marriott International of Bethesda: $20.9 billion
  • No. 287: Discovery of Silver Spring: $11.1 billion
