Homicide Victim Identified, Found Along Trail in Briggs Chaney

Police say the 20-year-old man from Southeast Washington suffered trauma to the upper body.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A man's body was found on a trail in the Briggs Chaney area, and Montgomery County Police said Sunday the death was a homicide.

Detectives have identified the victim as Sheldon Williams, 20, of the 2000 block of Naylor Road in Southeast Washington, D.C.

A passerby saw Williams, with trauma to his upper body, lying on the trail in the 13800 block of Castle Boulevard just before midnight. The passerby contacted a private security guard working in the area, who then called 9-1-1.

An autopsy will be completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.
