Jackie's Restaurant, Sidebar to Close in March

The owner of Jackie's restaurant says much of the staff will move to her new DC eatery, Little Coco's, in the spring.

SILVER SPRING, MD — The demands of opening a new DC restaurant has prompted the owner of Jackie’s and Sidebar to close the Silver Spring venues after 11 years.

Owner Jackie Greenbaum wrote Wednesday on the restaurant’s Facebook page that the business at 8081 Georgia Ave. will close on or about March 31.

She told Washingtonian that the ambitious plans to launch the Italian restaurant Little Coco’s with Jackie’s chef Adam Harvey necessitated that she focus on that venture.
“It became more and more apparent that I was going to raid the entire crew from Jackie’s, and it was time,” Greenbaum told the publication of her decision.

On Facebook, Greenbaum thanked Jackie’s loyal customers, and said they can find the employees they know at Little Coco’s when it opens.

“To celebrate 11 years of fun and fine food, we’ll be featuring nostalgia dishes on our menu over the next three months as well as fun events and a closing party,” she wrote. “Please stop in to say goodbye. We love you.”
