EDGEWATER, Md., February 15, 2019 – Launch Workplaces, a network of collaborative workspaces owned by The Brick Companies, today announced it has won the Emerging Employee Volunteer Program award for its Launch into Good Works Program.
The award from Leadership Montgomery acknowledges local businesses for their support to the Montgomery County community through employee volunteer engagement. Launch Workplaces’ Launch into Good Works is a community service program that began in May 2018. Program participants focus on one project per quarter and each is led by a different Launch Workplaces member. The program’s first project supported the Washington, D.C.-based organization, Only Make Believe, that creates interactive theatre for chronically ill and disabled children. Launch Workplaces members created hats and necklaces to be worn by actors performing for children in area hospitals. The second Launch into Good Works project supported the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless with Launch Workplaces members presenting backpacks filled with back-to-school supplies for children. The organization’s most recent project was collecting toys during the holidays to support the Kennedy Cluster Project.

“We strive to be a place where members can accomplish their work, while at the same time bettering the community through collaboration with other members,” said Mike Kriel, chief executive officer of Launch Workplaces. “The mindset of community support has been instilled in Launch Workplaces by our parent company, The Brick Companies, which has a long history of corporate social responsibility. This award emphasizes the investment our members have put into the Launch into Good Works program and our community.”
Members of the public were asked to nominate businesses that demonstrated a commitment to volunteer engagement. Winners were selected by an independent committee of local leaders and previous award winners. Launch Workplaces received the award at the Leadership Montgomery Corporate Volunteer Awards Luncheon held on February 8 in Potomac.
