Lucky Duckling Saved By Montgomery Firefighters
While Montgomery County firefighters were at Leisure World to promote safety messages, they also rescued a baby duck.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Sunday was a double-duty lifesaving effort at Leisure World for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services crews.
Emergency personnel were at the senior citizen complex testing and installing working smoke alarms at hundreds of units. The free service was part of the department’s Community Risk Reduction Initiative.
And then firefighters rescued wayward duckling from a storm drain.

Department spokesman Lt. Pete Piringer said the lucky duck was plucked from a drain on Tarkington Lane.
