Man Charged In 2001 Cold Case Killing In Chevy Chase: Police
Police have arrested Eugene Gligor in connection with decades-old killing of a woman in Montgomery County, authorities said.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Authorities have arrested and charged a man in connection with a 2001 killing of a woman in Montgomery County, police announced Tuesday.
Eugene Teodor Gligor, 44, was arrested in Washington, D.C., and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Leslie Preer, Montgomery County police said in a news release.
According to police, Preer was found dead inside her Chevy Chase home in the 4800 block of Drummond Avenue on May 2, 2001, after she failed to show up for work.

DNA evidence recovered from the crime scene was submitted to a lab for forensic genetic testing in September 2022, police said. This month, Montgomery County police collected DNA evidence from Gligor and determined his matched the DNA found at the crime scene, authorities said.
A warrant was issued for his arrest on June 15. Gligor is being held pending extradition to Montgomery County.
