Memorial Day 2016: What's Open, Closed In Montgomery County

Memorial Day 2016 in Montgomery County means liquor stores and pools will be open, while libraries and schools are closed.

BETHESDA, MD — Schools, Montgomery County offices and libraries will be closed Monday, May 30 for the Memorial Day.

Good new: liquor stores are open, as are county parks, and limited mass transit.

If you want to catch a parade, food galore and live music, visit Rockville for its 28th annual Hometown Holidays music festival to mark Memorial Day with a ceremony and parade on Monday. The Taste of Rockville offers plenty of food from local restaurants, and runs from 2-10 p.m. on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29. Taste of Rockville opens at noon each day.

County Offices – closed.

Libraries – closed.

County Liquor stores – all county liquor stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Recreation – all indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities will be open; administrative offices, senior centers and community recreation centers will be closed.

Montgomery Parks – holiday scheduled available, here.

Ride On – Will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Metrorail –Will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Metrobus – Will operate on a Sunday schedule.

TRiPS Commuter Stores (Silver Spring and Friendship Heights) – closed.

Refuse/recycling pickup – no collection, all collections scheduled on or after the holiday will be made one day later in the week. Monday collections on Tuesday; Tuesday collections made on Wednesday; Wednesday collections on Thursday; Thursday collections on Friday; and Friday collections on Saturday.

The Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station – closed.

Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters – free.

MCPS Schools and Administrative Offices – closed

State offices and courts – closed.
