Mercedes Driver Flees, Hits Three Patrol Cars
A Silver Spring driver being chased by police lost control of his car and crashed into three Virginia State Patrol cars, authorities said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Authorities have not identified a Silver Spring man who allegedly led police on a chase from Montgomery County into Virginia, where his Mercedes slammed into three patrol cars.
The driver of the 2000 Mercedes C230, a 27-year-old Silver Spring man, was not injured, authorities said. He was taken to Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
Two men who were passengers in the Mercedes were taken to Inova Fair Oaks Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Virginia State Police say they were asked after midnight to help Maryland authorities in the pursuit that entered Virginia on Interstate 495 at Georgetown Pike. The chase continued onto I-66 and then Route 29.
At the intersection of Route 29 and Stone Road, Virginia troopers tried to stop the Mercedes, but the driver reportedly made a U-turn and lost control. The vehicle ran head-on into one of the trooper’s patrol cars.

The suspect vehicle then continued on Route 29 and struck two more state trooper’s vehicles as they boxed in the Mercedes. Police say the driver was forced to a stop in the Centreville, VA, area.
The incident remains under investigation, according to Virginia State Police.
