MLK Jr. Day 2019 In Bethesda: What's Open, Closed
Here's your guide to what's open and closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Bethesda and Montgomery County.

BETHESDA, MD — On Monday, Jan. 21, America will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
While some in region have to work, most schools, government offices, and public facilities will be closed. Here's how it shakes out for Montgomery County residents.

Montgomery County government will observe the following holiday schedule for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, Jan. 21.
- County Offices – closed.
- Libraries – closed.
- Department of Liquor Control retail stores – all stores open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m..
- Recreation – aquatics programs and facilities open; all other classes and programs canceled. Administrative office, senior centers, and community centers are closed.
- Montgomery Parks – for special programs, events and operating schedule, including Brookside Gardens, ice rinks, and tennis centers.
- Ride On – Modified holiday schedule.
- Metrorail and Metrobus – information available at www.wmata.com.
- TRiPS Commuter Store at Silver Spring Transit Center – open.
- TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store – closed.
- County-provided refuse/recycling pickup – canceled Monday, Jan. 21. The collection will slide by one day with the last pickup on Saturday, Jan. 26.
- Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station – facility closed.
- Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters – FREE.
- State offices and courts – closed.
