Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School Lockdown Lifted After Weapon Reported On Campus
Montgomery County police reported the lockdown shortly after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
BETHESDA, MD — The lockdown at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School has been lifted after police received a report of a weapon on campus.
The high school was placed on lockdown shortly after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday after authorities received a report of a possible weapon at the school, Montgomery County police said in a statement.
In an update shared shortly before 11 a.m., police said no weapon had been found but officers were continuing the search.

Approximately 10 minutes later, the school transitioned to a shelter-in-place, police said.
According to police radio transmissions obtained by Bethesda Magazine, the student believed to have a weapon left the school before the lockdown. Officers searched the student's home and later took him into custody at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Leland Street. It's unclear if the student will face charges.
