Montgomery Co. Coronavirus Update: 208 New Cases, 17 New Deaths

As of Thursday morning, Montgomery County has 9,260 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus and 491 coronavirus-related deaths.

BETHESDA, MD — As of Thursday morning, Montgomery County has 9,260 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus and 491 coronavirus-related deaths. That's an increase of 208 positive cases and 17 additional deaths since Wednesday.

The county, which is home to roughly 1.1 million residents, has the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 12,830, according to county health officials.

Statewide, there are now 43,531 positive cases and 2,045 confirmed deaths, according to the Maryland Department of Health data released Thursday. This is an increase of 1,208 new cases and 41 new deaths in the past 24 hours.

To date, 176,702 people have tested negative for the disease and 3,099 people have been released from isolation.

There are currently 1,374 hospitalized coronavirus patients statewide, a decrease of 36 hospitalizations in the past 24 hours. Of those currently hospitalized, 526 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
