Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Police - Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking the public's assistance in locating a missing 11-year-old male from Silver Spring.

Today, August 30, at approximately 3 p.m., Richard Herrera was last seen leaving the Silver Spring International Middle School on Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring.

Richard is 5 feet, 2 inches tall, and 160 lbs. He has brown eyes and black hair and wears glasses. He was last seen carrying a backpack and wearing a white shirt, black pants and blue shoes.

Police and family are concerned for his physical and emotional welfare.

Anyone who has information regarding the whereabouts of Richard Herrera is asked to call the Montgomery County Police SVID at 240-773-5400 or the police non-emergency number at 301-279-8000 (24hrs).
