The first day of school in Montgomery County is a month away, time for parents to get organized.

Here’s a look at key dates for the 2015-16 school year:

• Aug. 31: First day of school for students
• Sept. 7: Holiday - Labor Day - Offices and schools closed
• Sept. 14: No school for students and teachers
• Sept. 23: No school for students and teachers
• Oct. 2: Early release for all students— planning/grades/interims
• Oct. 16: No school for students and teachers
• Nov. 2: Professional day for teachers - No school for students
• Nov. 11: Early release days, K–8 parent conferences
• Nov. 12: Early release days, K–8 parent conferences
• Nov. 25: Early release, K–12
• Nov. 26-27: Holidays - Thanksgiving Offices and schools closed
• Dec. 24-31: Winter break, No school for students and teachers; *Dec. 24 and 25 are holidays for employees
• Jan. 1: Holiday - New Year’s Day, Offices and schools closed
• Jan. 18: Holiday - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Offices and schools closed
• Jan. 25: Professional day for teachers - No school for students
• Feb. 15: Holiday - Presidents’ Day, Offices and schools closed
• Feb. 26: Early release for all students—planning/grades/interims
• March 24: Teacher Work Day - No school for students
• March 25-April 1: Spring break - No school for students and teachers (Offices closed Mar. 25 and 28)
• April 26: Primary Election Day - Offices and schools closed
• May 30: Memorial Day holiday- Offices and schools closed
• June 17: Last day of school for students - Early release, K–12
